Responsibilities

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, provides assessment/treatment services to patient population. Function as medical director for assigned unit. Also provides leadership and education for clinical staff.

Admits client to the appropriate level of care and approve treatment plans according to applicable regulatory standards, participates in the multidisciplinary case conference and make recommendations as to the appropriate treatment for clients, provides psychiatric assessments and diagnosis of alcoholic and substance dependent persons and their families; provide individual/group therapy services as necessary.
Prescribes medications when indicated by history or psychiatric symptoms, provides individual and group consultation to staff regarding their clients, provides on-going training for clinical staff.
Must be familiar with all applicable alcoholism/substance abuse/mental health diagnostic codes and criteria, program guidelines and regulations. Facilitate routine and emergency transfers of patients.
Maintain case records and billing records per hospital guidelines. Participate in scheduled on-call for Department.

Qualifications

Medical Degree required and valid NYS MD License.  Two years experience in working with chemically dependent and dually-diagnosed persons. Computer literacy.
