The Histology Lab Supervisor performs expected responsibilities of position with knowledge, competency, and appropriateness to ages of patients/customer served.  He/She will supervise Histology techs to assure compliance with SOP and accuracy of specimen handling and results. Coordinates workload, schedules technicians and advises and assists staff with daily work flow. Performs microtomy and staining. Cuts, embeds, and stains frozen sections, surgical samples and autopsy samples. Prepares solutions and uses them to perform special stains. Responsible for statistics and inventory control. Troubleshoot instruments and notifies BioMed or instrumentation company of repairs needed.


BS degree in Medical Technology or related Science. NYS DOH license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist with five years of hospital experience as a medical technologist.  Demonstrated proficiency in MS office and medial database systems; knowledge of Meditech preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
