    Responsibilities

    The Chemistry Supervisor is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive program that insures the accuracy, precision and reliability of all Chemistry testing performed. Develops and monitors a schedule for linearity, calibration and correlation of all instrumentation in all laboratory departments. Acts as a subject matter expert in these areas and guides chemistry staff in the successful performance and documentation of test system accuracy and precision. Performs new QC lot validation and the development of QC acceptable ranges . Develops and implements inventory management through out all areas of responsibility with the goals of just-in-time ordering and maintaining no more than 8 weeks worth of inventory on stock shelves, as applicable. Builds and maintains effective working relationships; advises and consults with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel. Actively supports a positive workplace culture; maintains effective employee and labor relation practices. Serves as a liaison across disciplines and participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned. Day to day supervision of test performance and testing personnel. Monitoring laboratory processes to ensure that acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained, including review of quality control, instrument and equipment maintenance and other quality assurance activities. Performs studies that insure that accuracy and precision of instruments including correlation and linearity studies
    Assuring at all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. In the event of a non-conformance, insures that the results of test examinations are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly. Verifies staff training and competency prior to performing testing on patient specimens independently. Verifies that testing personnel are evaluated semiannually during the first year of hire and annually thereafter as being competent for assigned tasks and that remedial action is performed when staff do not meet competency expectations
    Maintains compliance with policies and procedures. Participates in survey readiness activities

    Qualifications

    NYSED license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist PLUS 6 years of recent and relevant experience, post licensure. BS in Medical technology or related science. Demonstrated expertise in laboratory test system validation procedures. Proficiency in MS Office suite of software products as well as Data Innovations EP Evaluator ™. Demonstrated experience in leading a team and mentoring/teaching employees
