Responsibilities

The Registrar demonstrates a professional attitude to all they come in contact with at all times and performs all duties in an ethical and efficient manner. Schedule and complete referral procedures for intake appointments.  Communicate information regarding fees and insurance to patient at assessment visits. Register all patients in hospital system and in any county, state and federal system as needed.  Transfer and discharge patients as needed. Gain a copy of any patient identification and insurance card. Daily visits reconciliation for all billable inpatient services. Insure that all vital billing information is obtained and entered. Verify all Medicaid patient eligibility using Epaces machine and report changes to Director of Operations and other need-to-know staff. Verify all insurance and call for appropriate authorization when indicated.  Communicate information to office and clinical staff. Responsible for corrections and follow up of patient information as it pertains to patient financial record. Obtain signed consent forms for insurance and HIPAA/42 CFR Part II requirements. Keep inventory of admissions/registration forms, labels and wrist bands and inform appropriate staff when supply needs to be replenished.

Qualifications

Knowledgeable in medical health insurances. Basic medical terminology and computer knowledge. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Minimum 1 years of registration experience within a medical setting (doctor’s office, hospital). Typing and data entry experience. Ability to perform simple mathematics calculation needed for reconciliation and patient fees. High school graduate or equivalency required;
