Responsibilities

To serve as a proactive patient advocate in helping patients “navigate” through the health care system.  The Breast Imaging Coordinator will work with the breast imaging department and follow-up care providers to ensure timely and complete care for all breast imaging services. The Breast Imaging Coordinator will travel back and forth from Dobbs Ferry Pavilion and Andrus Pavilion as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for assisting the Patient Experience Manager with community breast health education on early detection and screening and addresses barriers to breast care.
  • Responsible for assisting patients with initial screening, coordinates follow up care for patients after mammogram.
  • Send follow up reports to ordering physicians and obtain prescriptions.
  • Prepare reminder letters and certified letters.
  • Update daily mammography log with BIRAD codes and call back information.
  • Profile breast imaging schedule a minimum of one week out to avoid scheduling issues.
  • Confirm appointments with patients, providing necessary instructions.
  • Obtain authorizations for biopsy procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including updating information in the Meditech/PACS and filing radiology reports.
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and providing information to patients and other staff members.
  • Prepare CD’s and reports for patients transitioning to outside facilities.
  • Provides onsite Patient Experience Satisfaction, with regards to wait times, to all Radiology modalities and escalates appropriately.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or pending Degree required.
  • Bilingual spanish required.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate orally and in writing, using advanced writing skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in MS office suite of products.
  • Proficient in the use of hospital health information system.
