Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The technologist will have proficiency in the areas of Special Procedures and CT and will be required to cover these areas when needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Knowledge of protocols and application for CT and or Special Procedures.
  2. Positions and transfers patients to and from the X-ray modality.
  3. Selects proper technical factors for examinations.
  4. Uses proper protocols for all imaging studies.
  5. Access IV site and administered the contrast media.
  6. Reviews Consent and Medication Reconciliation forms.
  7. Performs Medication Management including storage, rotation and temperature requirements.
  8. Prepares oral contrast.
  9. Uses power injector for administration of contrast.
  10. Knowledge of PACS, completing and sending images and the scanning of documents.
  11. Reconstructs/ post process images according to protocols.
  12. Disposes of biomedical waste using CDC and OSHA guidelines.
  13. Clean and maintain equipment to remove body fluids.
  14. Maintains daily schedules, log book and required QA.
  15. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned rooms.
  16. Maintain adequate room supplies/ respiratory and suction tubing.
  17. Must follow all Federal, State and hospital health safety codes especially in reference to Radiation, electrical and mechanical safety.
  18. Adequately explain procedures to patients.
  19. Must attend all required hospital in-service programs.
  20. Required to use a particulate respirator (mask) when exposed to patients with suspected TB.
  21. Required to address the ages of the patients served and produced expected results of clinical interventions.
  22. Review and incorporate the Hospital and Department Mission Statement in daily work activities as well as QA goals, procedures and models.
  23. Maintain registration with ARRT including CE credits.
  24. Proficient in the use of MediTech (RIS).
  25. Must have knowledge of sterile precautions and catheters storage.
  26. Communicate with patients and other health professionals.  
  27. Follows St. John’s Riverside Hospital attendance policy. 
  28. Regular attendance and timeliness are required in your job. This includes the following: (1) being at your work station ready for work by the start of your shift (2) taking only the time allowed for breaks (3) remaining at work during your entire shift, unless excused by a supervisor (4) leaving promptly at the end of your shift, unless you have been given advance permission from your supervisor to work past that point; and (5) calling in and personally notifying your supervisor or another member of management if you are going to be either absent or tardy, unless a verifiable emergency makes it impossible for you to do so.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Perform x-ray examinations as needed
  • Perform other related duties
  • Perform unrelated duties in time of emergency

Qualifications

Understands written and verbal instructions.  Manual dexterity for manipulating function of equipment.  Graduate of an approved school for Radiologic Technology. Licensed for New York State in Radiologic technology including permit for injections. Registered or eligible by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; advanced certification preferred.
